Lil Red, Marc, Hub or Wheel bearing? And Motorcraft or Ebay?

On a previous post regarding hub bearings

[quote= Lil Red] Sounds like a wheel bearing to me..

Hello Marc, Lil Red, I have a low frequency rumble, sounds like front left, after a hard 80,000 km (50,000 miles) at low speed, goes away at high speed.

Is the Hub bearing the same as wheel bearing? Or is the hub bearing an outer bearing I need to buy, and then is there an inner bearing like in the old days? Or just one bearing???

And would you buy something that important on Ebay? Or just go to Ford?

Since we are so remote here in Oz, I thought I would just buy the proper parts before I tear it down. If I don't need them now, I eventually will... So is there anything else I should get? Gasket or grease seal?

Thank you Guys
Best Regards from lone Ranger in Oz...

We are reffering to the actual sealed cartridge wheel bearing. The only seal you need when replacing it is it only is the yellow o ring that seal it to the knuckle. As far as where to get it, i dont know if ebay is a good place or not. I know they are expencive, so you might want to price it out through ford and then see if you can beat that on ebay or online with someone who can ship it to you and still keep it worthwile....

oh yea, take the caliper and shackle off as an assembly...just the 21mm(13/16) bolts......then slide the rotor off, then take the hublock for your four wheel drive off, then a snap ring and three washers behind the hublock, and lastly there are four nuts holding the hub on from the backside of the knuckle....

Thats great Marc, Thanks!

Buy you a few beers and pay you $50 an hour to do it here..... If you are coming,

Bring the bearing sets with you, happy to pay for them when you get here.

Regards, Ranger in Oz....
