Strange grinding noise

I have a grinding noise that I have been trying to locate the source of for several months. I think it is coming from the DS front. So far I have replaced the rotors with Powerslot Cryo's, pads with Hawks, installed a Dynatrac free spin kit, ball joints and shocks then an alignment. The noise went away for ~500mi then returned.
The noise seems to be most prevalent when turning left or going straight under 1600RPM, getting off the throttle or giving it more will make it go away. It is not a constant noise as it will do it all day, then disappear for several days. It also seems to disappear whenever I bring something to record the sound. Any ideas? I'm stumped and so is my mechanic friend.

I had a squeeling noise when I turned the wheel left at lower rpm's, it turned out to be a bad hub.

I just figured mine out...I had a exhaust hanger slip out of place on one of the rubber grommets. The hanger was rubbing against the frame and had shifted the exhaust just enough to barly rub the turbo down pipe against the firewall (where clearance is tight to begin with). Since it was just barly rubbing I couldn't hear it all the time. Kind of weird since I have had my exhaust in since Feburary and never had the issue until this week.

Maybe this will help with yours. Good luck.

could be the problem most have with the power steering pump. i had a growling noise. is it hard to turn at lower rpms? mine was the pump. they have a new line to replace one of the power steering lines. mine finally went away after having the line on for a while.

Could be wheel bearing assembly. When it is worn it will allow the rotor to tilt and bring on the brake pads.

i have the same noise, IVE REPLACED everything its still there! i mean, wheel bearing assys, brakes, rotors, i pulled the front stub axles checked the u joints, replaced seals i mean everything and tis still there and i even replaced all 3 u joints on the front driveshaft! cause they were seized.im trying my rear ujoints as i found a thread on them making the noise sound like it was coming upfront.. the noise goes and comes but is mostly there when slowly accelerating but never when my fotos to the floor. its louder when i press on the pedal lightly at about 70-100km/hr, then gets quiet when i take it off, when i find it trust me ill be telling everyone!! lol

Please let me know if you get this one figured out. Mine is doing it too. It is more noticable when turing to the left. It is kind of a low rattling noise, I can feel it in the floor boards but not in the steering wheel. It only does it when under light to medium acceration. Let off the gas and its gone, give it alot of gas and it gone. It is driving me nuts.....

One more thing.... I noticed recently that for me, it goes stops at 55 or faster regardless of acceration.
