been there done that... I have a 96 powerstroke with ttb front end... mine was a worn out bushings in the center of the ttb... and it was also mis aligned, on 35's with a the very front shackle bushings blown out as it goes up into the frame... mine felt like the whole truck was jumping and bucking at the same time and would nearly rip you off the road... I have a very good friend that was a ford dealer tech for many years and now owns his own alignment shop... it is due to bad shackle bushings and leaf spring bushings in conjunction with the bad ttb bushings... those bushings cause it to V out and it looks like a toe out issue but really it is a camber issue... you must replace the bushings in order to draw it back in so that a proper alignment can be done.

still having problems
hey guys let me pass on a little bit more information to see if this helps. My 96 is a 250, but I had done a solid axle conversation. When i did this job I replaced everything, but the steering parts, it still has the 3/4 steering. Other then that all of the leaf bushings, u joints ball joints all are brand new. I really need to fix this problems because this problem is really pissing me off. Any little bump I hit the truck goes nuts and I have to stop it in order to control it. I will say this. If i can get the truck over 70 and hold it there and maintain power to the drive train the problem wont happen. Please let me know and thanks.

Update
Hey guys,
I have done some looking into and have found either the buk of the problem, or part of it. I re-read this posting and read to look at my track bar. I did it was very loose and it was missing one bult and nut. Now I am not sure how the two remaining nuts and bolts became loose and losing the third, but that is what I found. I went and retighted the bolt that are there and found that I can not get the third bolt hole to line up to get a bolt throught it. This truck is a 250 converiztion to a dana 60. I am thinking that the add a leaf lift to the front changed the positioning of the track bar bracket it when the track bar is bolted in. If I take the bar out I can get the bracket to line up right but then the bar will not fit it to line up the bolts. I am going to add a steering damper to the front any way just for fun, and added protection. If any one knows of a new track bar or a track bar bracket that has been corrected for an add a leaf please let me know. Thanks for all of the help. |
