popping noise in right front

I just had new ball joints put on and have noticed a pop has developed occassionally when I first put it in gear and drive either forward or reverse with the wheel turned to the left. It sounds like when you run over a capped plastic bottle. Last night at WalMart it scared the pooter out of me.......I thought I had turned into someone when I was backing out. It hasn't done it other then when I first start out.
Any thoughts?
Thanks a lot guys, I sure learn a lot from you all.
Jeff

possible swaybar links?

i just changed my swaybar links because it was making a similar noise, not real loud but a nice clunk. the bushings in them were shot. easy to do also. took longer to get the tools out than change them.

usually a sway bar link is the culperate....sometimes the spring insilators are broken also....look at the tips of the front spring....at each tip in between the leaves should be a white (when it was new anyways..) piece of plastic that sits in between them.....they wear out and break off and sometimes you will hear a spring slap when turning hard or over big bumps.....ford sells a repair kit that is pretty easy to install but it takes two guys and watch you dont crush a finger......Marc

That's the only thing I liked about my IFS chevy, it was a quiet setup....not many pops until parts began to wear. The leafs are kind of noisy on the SD

Okay.......thanks for the replies guys.
Now for something new on this. Over the last few days I've noticed that when I start the truck it will run for about 10 - 15 seconds and then something pops in the right front side. I don't put it in gear or touch anything. Any ideas?

this is completely normal......a lot of the guys on here hear it too im sure.....what it is, is after the truck has sat for a while the vacume in the heater controll system bleeds off......and when you restart the truck the vacume pump then starts working and eventually it builds enough vacume to close the blend door.......it isnt in the position that your switch is set to righ on start up....thats what the BANG is is the door going to the position you want it in......also, it will only happen if the switch is in certain settings....but its absolutely normal and is nothing to worry about..........Marc

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.........Thanks for the info Marc. I recently saw in my owners manuel that you should not turn the comfort control to the off setting. This will allow for air circulation while the truck is closed up.....helps reduce moisture build up and such in the cab. This is when I started noticing the pop. It just so happens it was around the same time as I had the ball joints replaced. This is probably the source........correct?
Thanks again,
Jeff
