removing and installing my driveshaft
k so i got my driveshaft yesterday but ive had strep-throat for a few days now so i havnt been able to tackle it.... i might feel well enough tommarow to try to do it so my question is is there a specific way to taking it out and what all do you guys think i will need... i went out right now and bought a 12 point socket set so that i can take em out..... i dont have any air tools so ill have to try to do it with just simple hand tools.. what torque setting do they have to be re-tightened.. and should i use loc-tite on them..... any info would help a lot.... thanks ahead for all your wisdom

Sorry nobody answered yet! They Usually have loc-tite from the factory so it probably would not hurt.Dont know the torque specs sorry. If you can get a socket on it you should be good to go.Hope its a good socket becuase they are usually super tight.Dont know any other tips that I can think of.Wish you luck, should be pretty straight forward.

k cool... yup i got a 12point socket i just bought from sears that will work on it so im gonna just use my breaker bar tommarow and see if i can get them off....if not im gonna have to go invest on some air tools and a compressor... it will give me a good reason to tell the girl im gonna spend 500 bucks on some tools lol... i just bought a big dewalt 18volt set that cost 700 smakers for work lol... not sure if shell be pissed if i spent some more on some air tools... oh well...keep the info coming... -Raul |

you wont need air tools for that..... also, i would not recommend using loc-tite on them but if you do make sure you get the kind that will let you take it back off. i think the red is the kind you would want and the blue is permanent. cant really remember. it is VERY wise to change your U-joints the same time as your driveline, especially since you drove it with the driveline like that, whether they look bad or not, whenever i change a driveline I change the U-joints while im doin it anyway since you probably wont change that driveline again anytime soon. (unless you forget that your truck is not lifted again LOL)
