I used 1/2 watt resistors. First the 10K, then the 22K. The 22K was tolerable and I noticed good throttle response and some power gain. Also some black smoke when I hit the pedal hard. I drove it like that for a couple days, and today I shimmed the FPR very slightly, probably less than the diameter of a BB. I used a small screw and filed the edges of the screwhead down a bit to get a good fit in the FPR housing. That increased the black smoke and helped smooth out the idle which sometimes really shook the truck with the 22K mod, but it still had a somewhat rough and high idle (@ 900 rpm). I removed the 22K and left the FPR shim in. The idle is still improved over what I had stock, still puffs some black, and has more power than I had stock. I think i'll skip the resistors and just wait for the DP Tuner when i have the spare $.
UPDATE: I removed the FPR Shim today, after driving around town for about 20 miles. I hopped in the truck and noticed the idle was fluctuating between 500-800, almost bouncing. when i stepped on the pedal it delayed, then had a rush of power. Removed the shim and everything back to normal. Anyone have any idea what the deal was? Too high fuel pressure? Now i'm going to save up in earnest for the DP Tuner.
