By spindle do you mean the unit hub (the part the wheel bolts to) or the knuckle? 4 big arse (13/16" I think) nuts on the back side of the knuckle. For the knuckle the axle shaft has to come out (pry it out from the axle shaft U-joint with a large screwdriver or pry bar, or use a large screwdriver on the back side of the big arse seal on the axle shaft and slowly drive it out, working your way around the seal as you go), then you just remove the nuts on the upper and lower ball joint and if you are lucky you can drive a pickle fork into the upper ball joint and knock it loose (note- leave the nut threaded onto one ball joint a few threads, so that when it does let go the knuckle doesn't bust your toes). If the pickle fork won't free it, jam the pickle fork in as tight as you can then pound on the stud of the upper ball joint with a hammer until it pops loose- sometimes there is a tad bit of corrosion between the ball joint and the axle tube and beating on the ball joint with a hammer while the pickle fork is wedged in there loosens it up enough to pop the knuckle free.
