I have an 05 F350 SD 6.0 PS 4X4 with 75000 miles on it. A couple of days ago, it started blowing white smoke out of the exhaust. I checked the coolant resevoir and it was empty. Filled it and restarted to warm up temp, shut it off and was almost empty again. Of course I rev'd it to see if the smoke would go away; it didn't! At first I thought maybe a glow plug or injector problem but after reading this blog I am starting to think otherwise. If the EGR valve goes by itself, would it show these symptoms or is it pretty positive that that it could only be the EGR cooler. The oil is clean, with no coolant, and freshly changed (<100 miles). The motor runs pretty smoth as it always has but has a lot of smoke, or steam. I noticed that the ground under the ehaust tip was real moist. Also, when pulling about 9000 lbs of granite on a 28 foot dual axle trailer, from time to time, under heavy demand, there was a weird whine from under the hood. Could it be that I have a bad EGR cooler and with the noise, also a bad oil cooler? Any help or advice would be appreciated! Thanks.
