I was the last vehicle and I proceed to pull over and honk my horn as if I was gonna pick one of them up. Well about 20 of them come running up to the truck. I give them the New York hello (finger) and take off. The looks on there faces were priceless.

That's not too bad!
I also have a 2000 PSD flatbed stakebody (work hore) and I do a lot of work in the S.F. Bay area. One of my old favorite past times was the "hitch hiker relocation game" We would fuel up in the early morning (3-4 a.m.) and at least once a week a hitch hiker would ask us for a ride. "Sure, where ya headed?" "Fairfield" (about 40 miles away) "Hey that's where we are going, hop in the back" (realistically we were usually going at least 150 miles)
Now they ALWAYS fall asleep and are shocked when they wake up and see they are in San Jose, San Francisco, Monterey. The best one was we took this guy all the way up to Mendocino!
"hey where am I?" What do you mean? This IS Fairfield!
