Why the Mercon V, Very Special fluid?

Hello all you Great Experts!!!

I take it my 06 TorqueShift takes the VERY special Mercon V fluid.... Anybody know what is so special about it???? I have to find a source or go full synthetic, ford only carries it here for the Explorer so I hear, and it is VERY expensive, something in $16-17 a litre? A$ so X .76, but it is still at least double U.S. prices...

Maybe Castrol Transmax Z? It is also expensive but a very high "Surface Tension" adhesion factor and also much higher boiling point than a straight mineral... I will have to check with Castrol... But any one know why the special fluid... Marc, I think you said VERY special..... Know why?

Thanks in Advance, Ranger...
