Just watch how much you do smoke. It can lead to getting into trouble and mainly makes everyone mad. It's also bad publicity for all diesels. I'll let others give you the more harsh no smoke treatment.

A turbo.
You do have a pyro right? |

No dont got a pyro yet just turned it up yesterday. but i really dont wanna turbo cause it costs ALOT of money. id be putting more in a turbo than the truck is worth. what do you think about a cold air intake with bigger exhaust pipe?

Get a pyrometer and EGR gauge if you don't have one. Then you can know what temps you are starting with. It will be hard to cool down EGTs if they are to high without a turbo. The cheapest way would be turning down the pump at little. How much did you turn it up? Usually anything past an eighth turn will get to hot (if I remeber correctly). Maybe rout the intake to the grill or inner fender somewhere to pick up cold air. Straight pipe will help a little but going any bigger won't help as much as you think or ppl will tell you.
Oh and almost forgot, good to see some more PA people on here, where are you from in central PA? Last edited by ars5147; 03-05-2012 at 11:38 AM. |

I'm from morrisdale pa. its about 20 min from state college. and turning the pump up just feeds it more fuel which gives it more power and more smoke. and a 6.9L sounds amazing straight piped
