turning up the injection pump on the almighty 6.9

Hey guys. So i got a 1987 ford f250 xlt lariat with a 6.9 IDI with a 4 speed in her. She's got about 245,XXX miles. So today i went out and decided to try and turn up the pump. Now i already know that everyones gonna tell me to go in thru the inspection plate and and turn up the allen screw. but its such a pain in the ars! so i know theres a way to tear the top of the pump off and turn it up. now i got it turned up maybe 2 or 3 flats today thru the inspection plate but i couldnt get a good grip on the allen wrench. so i took the top of the pump off but couldnt get all the springs and crap out of the way to get to the hole. any help???
