Looking for a 6.9-- anything to look for?
I've read very little on the 6.9..
I know indirect diesel engines are known for just brute durability-- most likely from being overbuilt to handle the high compression required to make them run, in the first place.. I'm making small amounts of biodiesel.. And want an older 4x4-- both because they're less expensive to purchase, and less technologically involved.. Other than RUST, RUST, RUST-- what should I be looking for, assuming I can even FIND on of the beasts??? Where certain years of production better than others?? |

there is the obvious things with any rig....front end, leaks, etc.....but i would be looking in the valley for any signs of fuel leaks, make sure it feels strong and shows no signs of smoking when warmed up.......no blue smoke on start up........those motors are hella durable, its not rocket science to tell if they are in good shape like it is on some of the newer ones.......Marc
