chevy idi motor with ford tranny

my 85 f250 has been having motor problems so i decided to take the 6.2L idi out of my old chevy and wanna put it in my ford. are the tranny bolt patterns different and would i have to get an adapter plate?

I am going to say no they wont match. Personally with the amount of fab work you will have into the swap you would probably be better off keeping the 6.9 and repairing it. The 6.2 isnt a powerhouse and its still a light duty engine......

But if you want to it would be different.

thanks for the info. i have the injection pump for my 6.9 but i dont know how to time it so it will start. are there marks on the gear for the pump that match up with the motor gear?
