1987 ford f250

Im getting ready to buy my first diesel truck, its a 1987 ford f250 6.9l 2wd with a 4 speed. it has about 150xxx miles can anyone tell me if these are good trucks and what kind of mods can i do to increase fuel mileage

i have an 85 f250, 2wd 4 speed and 6.9, i love it. there are not many things to do to increase mileage but you could do and exhaust system and intake. that is number one for better fuel economy. if you are willing to spend the money, you can also re-gear the rear end to a lower gear ratio

What would be some good exhaust ideas? i love stacks how would they sound on these trucks? I am getting the truck for $1000 is that a good price? sorry for the questions this will be my first diesel truck.

oh yeah, that is a hell of a deal. i have a 3" single stack on my truck and i love how it sounds. it has that deep v8 tone and gets a nice pop at higher rpm.
