Trans stuck in one gear

I have a 11 srw F350. Yesterday while I was driving a message that said something about service trac control system came across. I also noticed that the trans was stuck in 5th gear, taking off from a stop was like a power glide trans start..lol... I pulled over and shut the truck off to see if it would reset... big mistake. The truck would not even turn over, I called roadside assistance. While waiting for the wrecker I periodically would try to start it and it eventually did start. Ses light was on but eventually shut itself off. So today on the way to my girls house it decided to stay in second gear, also noticed it had no reverse. The ses light is still not lit.... anyone ever had something like this?

Well Sunday night after the game I went to leave my buddys house and ses light came on and trans would not go into any gear, like it was in limp mode. After waiting a while and restarting the truck drove home fine. Yesterday took it to the local dealer (not exactly confident in thdm from past issues but the light was on). So I went there never shut the truck off and the manager had a tech plug it in. The lap top came with a error that said it couldn't communicate with the trans control module. So I left it there and it was supposed to go in this morning. I did see in the trans failure thread a guy hac the same problem but never said what ended up fixing the problem.

Probably just a bad transmission control module.

^^^^^^ What he said. Was at dealer geting my titan put in and first service done when i got the update on my phone so i asked the diesel guys they said control module before i barley finished or wiring harness. They have seen nothing like it but that was there guess. Hope they can get it fixed. I love this truck.

Well they called me around 5 and said there was a service bulletin for my vin. They were reloading the updated software to the trans module and were gonna let me know if that took care of it... I hope its something this simple, I really love the truck.. and I told the service manager I switched from GM and I hope this is something isolated. I took a lot of crap from my GM buddies for switching..lol

Cool. These things like a lot of stuff now are super dependant on software. So you never know. Totally possible. Hope so. Remeber it will be learning for i think a 1000 miles or so.
