Wide Spread Transmission Failure?

My friend just put his 2011 in the shop for a bad transmission and they told him 3 to 4 weeks because parts were back ordered due to a huge number of failures.

Anybody hear of a huge issue going on? I had noticed that my tranny is beginning to shift a little rough sometimes and wonder if it is going to go bad.

yadda yadda yadda.....parts were a problem if you broke a fuel filter cap...not because of filter problems...but because the units were new...

won't offer more scenarios... it would get silly...

Mine just got stuck again in 5th gear. Wouldnt shift into any other gear. Very loud clunking when shifting into park or reverse. First time it took 9 days to get parts and get it fixed. They replaced an internal cylnoid and internal wiring harness. Now it is happening again this morning. Not even been 2 months since they fixed it the first time along with replacing the enitre steering column because of the noises it was making while turning. I had a 08 super duty which I wish I had back. This truck has just over 13,000 miles in 11 months and its been in the shop 5 times for various things. 08 never in the shop except for maintenance and 68,000 miles perfect miles in less than 3 yrs. SHOULD never have traded for 2011 !!!

Of anything to be widespread failure on this truck, I wouldn't expect it to be the transmission.

It seems to be an issue with some of them.

Just dealing with Ford again: Truck was 1 month old when the tranni seized the first time. Pulled the dipstick and it was glowing hot and smoking.

They replaced it with a new tranni and last week the same thing happend. That was 3 weeks after replacement - ran 2500km.

I called Ford today and asked them for a diagnose report and they wouldnt give it out. Answer from Ford: we dont know what the problem is.

I will go to Ford tomorrow and hopefully get some results...

This is strange. My dealer says the 2011 SD's are flawless but people keep reporting these tranny failures. What's up?
