2012 F350 King Ranch 13mpg & feels like engine break on
Going bring my new Dually in today. I switched from a 2011 Lariat F250 to a 2012 King Ranch F350 Dually. Mileage dropped from 18-20mpg hwy in the F250 to 13.4-13.8mpg highway in the F350. Grant it that the gearing from one to another changed from 3.31-3.73 but dam, it shouldnt drop off like that with overdrive.
One thing I did notice was the truck drives like the engine break is on at low speeds. Im going in to talk with the service department and see if a reprogram will change things. And if they are going to allow me to do a programmer to get better mileage out of this thing. Now... Don't get me wrong. I love my truck. But lately its been staying on the driveway. 13mpg vs 30mpg in the Altima is a no brainer.. |

Unfortunately what youre feeling is probably mostly the gearing change.
The higher gear ratio will make it feel like there is more engine braking going on, as well as the fact that you have alot more weight in the dually then the 250 so that will contribute to slowing you down as well. |

If I knew this I would have just got the F250 King Ranch. Shoulda known is it a catch. He.offered me the dually for the same price.

By which calculations? On the lie o meter or by hand? How many miles do you drive? How many gallons do you fill? |

You should be getting alot better than that with an empty truck(pulling nothing)

I've did hand calc and its not far off. Im trying to get to dealer today. Don't want to leave my flooring guy in the house alone though.

Both hand and meter. Have checked enough that I know the meter is within 2-3 tenths of correct. Most of fill ups between 20-30 gallons.
