Day 1 250 miles and check engine light came on

Today I bought a 2011 F250 xl thas sat on the lot for a long time. Had to drive a long way to find a good deal. Drove it home from the dealership, about 225 miles. When I got home the front of the truck smelled like hot brakes. I didn't think much of it, but 30 minutes later my wife started the truck to go get grocieries and the Check engine light was on. I told her to take the old truck and we would take the new truck to the local dealership monday. Is there a possibility of problems from the truck sitting on the dealer lot so long. The truck had 0 hours and around 25 miles on it when I pulled off the dealer lot. Any ideas? I am sick. Loved driving my new truck, we are getting off on the wrong foot. Thanks

with it being so new there could still be a film of oil on stuff burning off causing the smell. many people have also noted a hot smell if the truck was in regen when you shut it off. obviously if the light is on you have a problem, but as long as it is running decently I wouldn't be too worried. there are a number of reflashes since they came out, if they were not done on the PDI that may be all it takes to get you back on the road.

No explanation for why, but they reset it and we now have 3600 miles on it with no more problems.
