6.7 Break in
Just got a new 6.7 power stroke 3 weeks ago, love it so far, question just turned
1500 miles should I do an oil change? Use to do it way back when after New car break in, is it still something that you should do? |

Everyone has their own preference for first oil changes. There is a thread located somewhere around here that pretty much covers everything from 10 minutes after you buy it to infinity. My preference is to do it after the first six months. For me that means around 3k, if I'm lucky. I don't put a lot of miles on my trucks. There's just too much conjecture surrounding this subject, so do what feels right for your truck and your wallet.

These new trucks will tell you when they need an oil change. The computer monitors various parameters including cold starts, oil temps, WOT, and driving habits to determine when the oil should be changed. MOst new vehicles don't really ahem break in periods despite what the dealer says. Ford puts selected engines up on a dyne right out of production and they are run at WOT for extended periods of time and do just fine. I wouldn't worry about it. Just wait for the truck to tell you.

It's a personal preferance. Is that a dealer "emblem" on your tailgate???

Thanks for the input guys. I have decided to wait on the oil change. and yes the picture was taken before I actually purchased the truck.
