Gotta get a new PCM!

Well I went to the deer lease last Thursday and pulled my 2 polaris 4 wheelers down and the pickup did just fine. I have 2200 miles on the truck and Friday morning we headed into town to grab some food. Again truck ran perfect. Saturday morning after we hunted we were loading everything up to head back. I tried to crank the pickup with the key and it acted like it wanted to start but wouldnt do it. I tried to start it with the remote and cranked just fine. Turned it off and did the same thing. Wouldnt start with the key but started right up with the remote. Onlu now the check engine light was on. Took it to the dealer saturday afternoon and the called yesterday saying the PCM has to be replaced. Thank god for warranty! Has anyone heard of this sort of issue on the 6.7? Ive got absolutely no mods to the pickup nor do i plan on doing any delete or programmer.

Have you gotten any letters from Ford for a recall or new flash for the truck? Just wondering if it is a common issue or just a one time event.

no. i just barely got the truck 2 months ago.

Thats what the dealer told me too! I've called around to about 5 different Ford houses and they all have told me they never heard of such. Guess I'll look at the paperwork once I get it back and see what all was done and pray its the only time she goes in the shop. My 6.0 was in the shop more than enough times to last a lifetime

don't put it past a dealer to sell Ford unnecessary parts/labor just like they do to customers

It's a 2011. I just talked to the dealer and they said the new PCM didn't fix the problem and they do not know whats wrong with it. They have to call Fords hotline to find out what to do. WTF!!!!!

Ya I was gonna say doesnt sound like the PCM. Sounds like the key died, did you try your other key?

No. That never crossed my mind. I just took it straight in. If it was the key wouldn't it just completely quit? The truck acted like it wanted to crank
