Hissing A/C "Problem"
So my truck and i have been getting some quality time together. It's been developing some kinda annoying traits (rear seat belts rattle if you don't have them turned just so, rides rougher than all get out, every once in a while it will slam into gear, the roof/ B-Pillar are just the correct dimensions to make mounting a wilson amplifier a pain in the ***, etc).
Anyways, on a longer trip i had in it, i spent a decent amount of time on the phone. So this was no music while talking on the Sync phone deal. But i was traveling at highway speed with the A/C and cruise control on, and i could notice in the background this kind of odd wheezing noise. It sounds a lot like an intake when a turbo starts spooling (with the windows up). Just a kind of air-rushing-through-a-restriction noise. However, it is pretty intermittent. It will make the noise for 5-10 seconds and quiet down for a minute or so. Now, because this was such a long drive, i had plenty of time to dick around and find out what was causing it. First, i checked to see if it was engine load related, no joy. Second, RPM related, nope. Third, speed related, nuh-uh. Then i killed the A/C and the noise went away. That's interesting... A/C blows cold and strong, no complaints from any of the HVAC systems whatsoever.
Like i said, I only notice it when the A/C is on and there's no music. Just about any background noise will drown it out (but you can barely hear it at highway speeds). It's not really a problem, just a minor little annoyance.
So I ask you, Powerstroke.org, do any of you have an asthmatic raccoon living in your dashboard?
