Anyone replaced factory sub with upgrade using factory sub box?

I have 2013 fx4 crew with sony system. I am interested in staying stock look but upgrading sub and possibly amp. Has anyone replaced the the stock sub with upgrade sub and amp but kept stock box? If so, what did u get and how do u like the sound?

I installed a Helix 8" shallow mount and a R. Fosgate 2-channel in the existing enclosure. Better than the stock set-up but not worth the money I spent. One day I will get a custom box and install a single 10" and use the same amp.

The factory sub and enclosure is crap. I bought the SPL2K box and the 13TW5 powered by the XD600/1. You can pull the high level signals off the OEM sub output. The MFT Sony system has the 10 channel amp for the whole system behind the OEM sub enclosure. It's not a separate sub amp like the 12s and earlier trucks.

Not to mention that each sub requires a specific amount of air space for optimal acoustics. Your best bet if you want to reuse the enclosure is to measure the air space in the factory box and fine a woofer that would perform well in it. Of course you would then have to power the sub accordingly. Not sure if it's worth the hassle.....
