adding fog lights

just bought a 2013 F-550 xlt and want to add the factory fog lights. I bought the kit from my local dealer and came with lights, harness and a new headlight switch. looks to be plug and play, but the instructions say a dealer has to reprogram the computer. Has anyone else ran into this?

Yes, I added the kit to my 2011 f-250 and had to have the dealer reflash the computer. It would have been cheaper to buy the truck with the fog lights already there. Hope this helps.

do you remember what they charged to reflash it? I told my salesman I wanted fog lights, but he said they are not available on a 550XLT. He said it had to be a Lariat

This might be alittle off topic but just another option to add to your truck. I custom installed a 2nd set of Ford factory fog lights in that void on the front bumper between the license plate and tow hooks. You just hook them up to one of the uplifter switches. You can never have too much light. Here is a pic.

The re-flash is to enable the auto headlamps that come along with the fog light kit. As long as you have a switch with the pull out for fogs, they'll work fine w/o a re-flash. If you want to take advantage of the new auto headlamps, then you'll need the flash.

Clever. I would have done this but I had no upfitter's in my '11 and I wanted the autolamp feature. ^^^^But this is a very cool idea.
