OEM Nav unit
Just took delivery of my 2012 King Ranch and I did not get it with the stock Nav/radio unit. I was thinking that eventually I would get a unit from someone that changes out their stock. My question is, when talking with the salesman about possibly upgrading to the Nav/radio unit, he told me that I would loose my backup camera in the rear view mirror and it would not show up in the Nav/radio unit. He also told me that the I had to change out pieces of the dash to make it fit. This doesn't make sense to me, wouldn't it just be plug and play? I may be wrong but all the wiring should already be in the truck. He also told me that if I bought from the dealer it would cost me around $4500. I am not a mechanic but can hold my own at fixing and changing things out. Anybody have any experience with this.

I looked at the pinouts on the factory nav units in the 2011 models, and all I have to say is YIKES. Good luck if you decide to convert-It would have been MUCH easier to order what you wanted.

Yeah that's what I thought, its no big deal, my $149 Garmin unit works just fine. I was just thinking if it was a plug and play issue I would look into it.

Did you lose your sync functions? I am going to call my salesman Monday and have him get me a price to have the factory navigation unit installed. I better get a good price on it too. I can find no information on the web about changing them out and exactly how difficult it will be.

Lost the Ford sync, the 9980hd has all the voice commands the factory one does except vehicle report.
I have another one with the factory nav I picked it up Friday, I will be putting in the aftermarket 9980hd in it also, I think the gps is better along with most other options. After using the kenwood and then trying to use the factory one having to stop to do anything I prefer the kenwood. |

Talking to my dealership today, they sell a kit that includes everything needed from start to finish. Do not have a price yet but I bet it isn't cheap! Going to talk to my salesman and see if we can work on the price.

You won't like the price installing a factory nab, I was quoted 2800 and I don't think they knew what they were doing.

Yeah, I figured. I have a Pioneer head unit with nav, Just wanted to know what it would cost. I think my next truck will come with nav and I'll just unlock it.
Thanks |
