thought about this too. As well as lights in the rocker panels. In fact i broke the one on passenger side in -28 F weather working on stupid temp blend door actuator. Guess would be a good time to tackle it all.
ALONG FOR THE RIDE. Cant wait to see some fresh ideas.
Yeah we were riding the other night and my daughter dropped something in the back and it was so dark we had to wait until we stopped to find it. In essence I had to hear "why can't you find it" for at least an hour. THIS is when I thought it would have been nice to flip a switch to light up the floor (for occasions such as these).
Seems simple and easy enough.
I have a 12v power source/lighter in the rear storage bin in my '15. All that I'd need is a LED strip and time to install a power button. LEDs are such low draw and the power source isn't being used day-to-day. Install the power button on the back of the flow thru console for the people in the back. Then run another power wire to the front seat area, mount the power button, mount the LED's.
I found some nice power buttons at Tractor Supply. Guess I got a warmer weather project now.....as usual.
Some cheap peel n stick LED strips from Wish, com would be perfect. I'd probably just tap into the parking lights so they come on when the headlights do.
I installed peel and stick LED lights I picked up at Walmart for like $10 a piece. Tied the power into the power point and added a switch in that stupid empty hole by the right knee. I'll try to get a couple of pics tomorrow.
I figured as much. A local guy to me had a kit in his truck and I was trying to get some pictures for you guys, but I guess he moved to go chase that big oil money for awhile
Ok here you go. First pic is where I spliced into the 12v port. Second pic is where I mounted the switch. Third and forth are the strips drivers then passengers. couldnt rotate last 2.
my buddy bought amp steps and upgraded the 4 lights the kit comes with to ridgids. I took the old ones off his hands and installed them in my 2005 6.0....I just tied them in to my parking light wire. So they are always on when my lights are on. I love them
So I'm ok at rewiring old truck or anything simple pretty much but when it comes to a bunch of electronic stuff ( like the new vehicles) I'm not so savvy. So what I want to do it install footwell lights in front and back seats kinda of whats been mentioned in the thread, but I want to wire it to the panel dimmer switch to come on only when held instead of being able to dim them because I don't want them on all the time. So I found this wire diagram...do i just tap into the gray/orange wire?? It's the top diagram
