H&S race tuner unlock?

I have a 2012 F350, and I'm wanting to buy a older style H&S race tuner. But they are normally vin locked. Talked with H&S, and they said if they unlocked it. They would have to load the newer tunes on it. It there a way to unlock the vin lock without having to reflash the tuner

Not sure why you wouldn't want to update it?

Doesn't the race tuner from before the government stepped in have a higher HP? Than the new tuner with high sulphur unlock? Plus some of the custom MCC tunes won't work on the newer mini-max, just the race tuner. I might be wrong on that?

Plus how H&S has a high sulphur unlock, then they have a race tune unlock. But you have to apply to the EPA. Doesn't the older tuners already have the race tune in them?

If it is a true race tuner, he should only have to pay the $100 unlock fee because it's a 2012 truck. You don't have to hook the tuner up to a computer & update. You just enter their supplied code into the tuner when downloading. That's how it worked on my xrt 109005, which is a true race tuner. Just my experience with my tuner and some research. Not looking to piss in someone's Cheerios if I'm way off.

Ah I got ya, duh, it's vin locked to another truck. Please slap me it's been a long day. I believe it's a handsome fee to unlock such a tuner. Unless it's a freebie, I'd say pay the premium for one that's not and don't open yourself up to that headache.

It's 300$-500$ dollars for h&s to unlock it depending on how they feel that day. I've called serval times and always get a different price on unlocking a vin locked tuner. If and when u get it back it will be a street tuner, there for you'll need the mcc tuning to be able to get custom tunes to unlock it to delete. All th tuner weather street turned race or race will have the same power ratings unless u get the mcc unlock with custom tunes then it'll be whatever rating of tunes u buy.
