to get gearhead tunes or not to

hey guys
I have a 2013 with custom tunes from spe and i like the power of the tunes but i dont like the trans tuning around town and when the truck is cold. So i been talking to matt about his tunes and they seem great but the price. I have started to see a few people not liking gearhead trans tune. So i want to hear from some experience. Spe trans tune is ok in my books, but putting around and when the truck is cold. So guys tell me what you like. Thanks Brad

I have no experience with SPE tunes, but I definitely prefer (Gearhead performance + Gearhead transmission) over (H&S performance + Ford transmission). I usually test out the acceleration when no one is around and it can be scary fast at times. I have to be careful going from 0 psi to full throttle because it leaves a noticeable smoke patch behind me once the truck takes off. I don't know if that's a tuning issue or what. But if I'm already cruising with slight acceleration and then I punch down the throttle, it feels like smooth raw power all the way until I let off around 60 mph or so. That's about the extent of my experience with Gearhead tunes. I drive 75% city and 25% highway, no towing yet.

I'm 100% gear heads!!

I had SPE and truck would fall flat on its face and shut down...this was while trying to merge on the hwy...

Never had one issue with gear heads tunes since day one!

Gear heads

Gear heads have my vote too. They might be higher priced than most but I think it was worth it.

Noticed a couple weird 4-5 and 5-6 shifts once on medium hard accel but overall much better trans tuning than stock, H & S, and SPE in my opinion for smoother shifting for everyday driving and during warmup. I've also been running their engine file it's way better than H & S current canned files for power, maybe not quite as hot as SPE but seems to keep the boost under control a bit better and in my comfort range without hitting defuel all the time when you get into it. I honestly can't see any significant difference in mileage between them all but that's based on mostly city haven't really had a chance to test on highway miles yet.

First off I vote yes for the tune
Second you get better cruising EGTs and slightly better gas mileage but EGTs romping on it are higher I hit 1480 just this morning getting on the freeway that directly went into a 7 percent 2 mile grade with a 28 foot PJ dovetail with 2 skid steers on it so you need to be careful when towing .
