Making the Switch from Spartan to H&S

Like the title says I am getting ready to make the switch. I bought a used mini max off road tuner. My question is can i just return my truck to stock with the spartan, and leave the straight pipe and block off plates on? Or do I have to actually return all the back to factory stock and then take all the crap off again. I am sure this is a stupid question but I really am not sure. Thanks for your help!!!

I would think that you just need to return to stock with Spartan then Upload Tunes from H&S! Can't see any reason to put hard parts back on.

From what I read, with spartan return truck to stock. (Do not start truck after). Then load H&S tuner with deleted tunes to truck. And all should be good without putting stock exhaust and egr back in place.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am excited to finally be making the switch and being able to change tunes on the fly. How does everyone like the SPE tunes? I think I would like to get those also?

Just out of curiosity, why didn't like the Spartan tuner?

I like the spartan turner. I just wanted to try something different. Shift on the fly was the main reason. I also have had a couple issues with there customer service. The turner it's self worked great and I really like the power of the warhammer tune.

So I got it all installed last night. Everything was very easy. After driving around a little bit today I have noticed a few things. I really like the ability to change tunes so easily!!I like that the boost stays below 33 psi, the spartan would reach 39. I feel like the spartan 200 pulls harder than the the performance tune with H&S. The H&S has less smoke which I like. I am going to get the SPE tunes today and compare them to the spartan. All in all they are both good tuners. I will say the customer service with H&S has been awesome!!! I called up there like 5 times yesterday and every time I spoke with someone knowledgeable and friendly. I cannot say the same for Spartan.

I "had" to make the move from my Spartan tuned 2010 F250 to H&S when a drunk driver totaled my truck and I bought a 2013 (not supported by Spartan).

My Mini-Maxx arrived yesterday and I must say that I'm disappointed.

I'd never seen a Mini-Maxx (other than on the internet) and it is dinky (screen size) compared to the Spartan. It doesn't have nearly the monitoring capabilities nor gauge options. I think the DashDaq that the Spartan is based on is a better piece of hardware. Yes, the H&S does have tune-on-the-fly, but that is a feature I've never needed.

I always received good customer service from Spartan and was happy with their "tunes", especially the 250, but have to admit that they seem to always be a step behind H&S in product development and it takes them forever to release updates. They "hint" that tuning for the 2013 & 2014 models "is just around the corner", but if it's like some of their other updates, they'll be lucky to have it available before the 2015 models come out. If they don't come out with something soon, I don't see how they can continue to be a Player in the diesel performance market.
