Do you mean performance or reliability?

For performance the stock cp4 pump is only sufficient for 500-550hp.

For reliability , I have not heard of very many fuel pump failures. But I have heard contaminated fuel is very hard on them such as water.

Depends on how crazy you're wanting to get with power. You can have your stock pump modified to flow more or you could run one of the double pumper setups with an additional CP3 pump. If you're getting wild with it you should invest in an AirDog also or some fuel/water seperator. H&S has a kit out now for the double pumper that's been tested heavily and made crazy numbers with it on their shop truck.

Maybe an aside, but tossing it in there for anyone doing fuel system upgrades: if youre using a FASS or airdog system & the H&S fuel filter upgrade, double check your bungs after about a week, mine leaked all down the valley (because i used non-chemical resistant thread seal) and nearly burnt my truck down. Caught it right as the diesel was hot enough to turn to vapour
