Poor misinformed Duramax owners.

Got bored today and was checking out the duramax forum to look for common problems and issues.

I came across a thread where several duramax owners were saying what a big pile of crap the ford 6r140 trans is and how nothing is better than the allison 1000.

Guess they missed H&S breaking point when the 6.7 powerstroke dynoed close to 900hp and over 1600 ft/tq before stock trans even slipped.

While in the test run, h&S duramax stock allison 1000 slipped at 500hp so they had to through in a ATS Allison before they even did the duramax breaking point. Haha

Ah come on the Allison is gods gift to the tranny world the 6R and even the 5R are worlds ahead of the Allison in stock form. My buddy drives an 05 duraturd, he always bashes on my 6 leaker, but what goes around comes around he toasted the tranny trying to keep up with me while running his truck on his PPE 160 tune. Best part is I made him pay for a tow truck, I wouldn't tow him home!

Well I have to say the Allison trans is a good trans or use to be, but I believe now a days they are built with cheap internals. Especially the ones in the gm pickups.

The Allison 1000 is a very good trans AT STOCK POWER LEVELS. They shift smooth and hold together good, but they are way behind the 5 and 6r in power handling.

Allison is solid, but not special just because they share the name with the M1 family of tanks.

allison 100 is great stock to stock but when you build the duramax for more than 50-100 hp you have to build it too.
