I just ordered an s&b intake, comes with an 8 layer reusable filter. Haven't installed it yet but i live in an area with lots of gravel so and thats the one most people directed me towards. It was between the s&b and the afe stageII with the progaurd 7 filter like HOUTX01X has but i went s&b because it was over $100 cheaper most places i looked and filters just as well or better and flows just as much from the info that i could find. Either of those two will give your truck plenty of clean air.

S&B is the popular choice for these trucks. Installed without the plexi cover for maximum gains in hp/mpg

Do you get any more turbo whistle with the AFE?

I wouldn't say a whistle sound, more like a growl. I guess it's the extra volume moving in. It's not a bad sound.
