H&S Black Maxx - Why is EGR opening and closing?

Hey Guys,

Yesterday I was in my driveway putting the plow on my quad and had my truck idling for 15-20 mins when all of the sudden I started hearing what sounded like a beeping noise. I then popped my hood and realized that it was my EGR valve opening and closing. My EGR valve is unplugged and so is the EGR butterfly valve. How could this be opening and closing if it's unplugged? Been tuned/deleted for 7k miles now and have never seen this before.

No clue... So ur not fully deleted? Once I put a flopro elbow on and looked inside the egr/ intake elbow and saw how restrictive it was coupled with the cac tube I was blown away by how restrictive it was! Is the 6.7 cac tube crimped down small where it passes through the core support like the 6.4's?

I am not sure on the hose sizes but I have a 5" flo-pro exhaust and no EGR block off plates yet but the valves are unplugged. I would assume they shouldn't even be able to work??

They shouldn't. By full delete I mean the coolers are Deleted as well? Are you sure the valves were opening and closing?

All EGR equipment is still on the truck... It's just unplugged like H&S says to do. The part I saw that was opening and closing was black on top of the EGR cooler right where I unplugged the orange connection.

Hopefully somebody with more knowledge will post some input for you. If it sump plug I don't see how it could work, but I don't know that inns and outs of the EGR systems from these truck. Do you have any plans to do a full delete including the coolers?

I guess it isn't the EGR valve... I just looked again and it is right next to the EGR valve and it also shuts when the engine turns off after a min or so... Is this for the coolant to the coolers or something? It was cycling open and close while my truck was idling for 15-20 mins or so.

I do plan on doing a full delete of the coolers etc after 100k miles for any warranty concerns.

ahhh ok this makes sense. If you don't do a full delete including the coolers, coolant still flows through the coolers...I too would probably leave the coolers till the warranty is up, never know when you could be responsible for 5 grand- leave the coolers! How many miles do you currently have on the rig?
