Already have Spartan H&S?
I have a Spartan tuner installed on my truck. I run on the 165 tune all the time. I average 15.2 mixed driving. I like the Spartan other than the annoying clank when shifting under light throttle. My question is would you guys suggest buying a h&s mini max over the Spartan? Is the fuel milage any bettter? Is the shift on the fly really useful? Does h&s have the clank when shifting under light throttle? Thanks for your help.

I just drove a buddies truck with an H&S to go pick up my sled, drove just under 2000 km and I didnt notice the light throttle clank like what happens to a spartan (in my 6.7) I think I would opt to go for the H&S next time due to ease of installation, shift on the fly, and customer support.
Here's a little more in depth on the shift on the fly, I tow trailers on a regular basis, but I found that driving with the 120 hp setting was very lacking, so I have it on the 165 and I just hate driving on the 165 with a heavy trailer, especially with the cruise control on. It's happened to me 3 times now when I have been driving down the road, come to a hill and it drops from 6th to 5th, and it gets up to what I can see, almost 40 pounds of boost. And then my truck dies. Come to a halt..... put it in park, start it up, and drive away. Being very feather footed on the throttle... So thats why I would like shift on the fly for a chip rather than waiting 30-45 to load a lower tune. |

So who else is getting this clank click noise with the spartan tuner?? Y arnt they fixing these problems? make it first on the list? sounds like they always say working on it?

Mick from spartan has been working with each individual that is having the clank-click problem and making them tunes that are fixing the issue. All you have to do is email him.

Not much help from the H&S guys? Factoryflood I took your advice and got the new 165 tune and it makes a huge difference. No more harsh shift first to 2nd. I am very happy with the changes and I guess I am gonna stick with Spartan.

Glad I could help ya out! I battle this question in my head all the time actually! I'm running a spartan right now on the warhammer tune all the time unless I'm towing, then I run the 120 tune. I'm curious to try a H&S simply to see the difference in MPG, I've played with all my Spartan tunes and the best I get for mpg's is 18.8 highway w/ cruise @ 70.

By the sounds of most the threads. Guys that go with H&S are very pleased and the guys that go Spartan are very pleased.
