DPF Delete Tuning DONE
Just got back from my local HD truck customization shop. Had a conversation with the owner. Highly likely the DPF delete tuning is RIP according to him. He has had several conversations with the various high end tuner companies' reps. As in not coming back. If you're thinking of going that route, get your programmer NOW. If these companies survive the EPA's misguided wrath it will be DPF on tuning only. Watch and see.
As is typical with the EPA, they push mandates the automotive industry's technology isn't ready to handle. Just like the 1970's, they mandate emissions equipment that causes the vehicle to run like total @$$ until the industry catches up (many years later) and developes a system that works to the EPA's wishes and does not hinder performance too badly. Right now deleted trucks enjoy much more power, the engines are kept internally cleaner (i.e. far less maintenance costs), and get 10-30% better mpg. Meaning a sh!+ ton less fuel consumed over the lifetime times the number of diesel engines out there. Seems a no brainer. It will be a while before future DPF systems produced will make these arguments obsolete.
