6.7 unique turbo noise

How come on just the 6.7 the turbo sounds like its crying when it winds down? All the other diesels you can here the turbo wind down but not like the 6.7.

Also what is this noise at 3 seconds? I have heard Duramax's do it too. Is it the vanes closing that make it do that?

It's like the 6.4. The way the turbo is designed I guess it gives it that whooooooosh sound. That camera doesn't pick it up well but it does still have a whine to it to. And also that is the vanes in the turbo opening and closing most likely to keep the vanes from sticking like the 6.0 did.

I figured it was the vanes. I wonder how the vanes can ever get stuck if there always adjusting. My brothers 6.4 doesn't sound anything like the 6.7 when it comes to the turbo winding down. He has 5" turbo back and my dads 6.7 has more turbo noise only when it spools down. Going down the road the 6.4 screams though.

right the 6.4 only has the whooosh, the 6.7 has a whooosh then a whistle. sounds pretty sweet lol. the vanes on the 6.0 would stick due to rust, and soot. the design of the 6.7 may be better to prevent sticking. the 6.4 has a vgt and u dont hear anything about them sticking so they prolly solved the issue.

I think it sounds cool too, just wondering why the 6.7 sounds so much different then any other diesel when the turbo is winding down.

i just got my 6.7 a month ago i love it so much i was hearing a whistle sound while driving mainly while coasting, and was a little worried but after reading this thread its sounds normal no gauge lights came on same mpg and power.
