fass Hd series

I put the fass hd series pump (200gph 55psi) on my truck and have been having problems with it. I originally installed the pump and had no issues other than my draw straw was cut to short and the truck would run out of diesel at a 1/4 of a tank showing. So i ordered a new draw tube and installed it. Now i am no longer having a problem running out of fuel but my truck is losing prime? It won't start randomly, one minute the truck is running and ill kill it and it won't start immediately after while other times i have no issues. I have redone all my fittings with teflon tape and re-torqued them. Any advice as what to do next?

btw when the truck won't start the pump is humming for say, then it will catch fuel and start whining louder and i can start it right away.

It sounds like the pump itself is not primed. Remove the water separator (smaller) filter, fill it with clean fuel, and then put it back on tight. Then crack the fuel (larger) filter loose and cycle the pump. When fuel starts coming out of the fuel filter quickly tighten it down. The pump should then be primed. If you are still having problems give me a call at 636-433-2962 and I can guide you through a few other tests.
