automatic engine shut off delay???
So me and my wife were in a parking lot and a guy in a duramax (03??) pulled up next to us and just left his truck with the engine on. At first we thought how stupid he was, then about 1-2 minutes later the joke was on us because his engine just shut off automatically.
I've heard of remote start before, but not a remote shut off. I can see how this would be good to cool the turbo down instead of just shutting the engine off right away. Anyone hear of this??? and how'd he do it? |

Lots of products have it. Some use an EGT probe and shut off at a predetermined temp. Some just have a timer and shut off after XX amount of minutes.

Thanks guys. Now that I know what it's called I've been finding a whole lot on the subject. Thanks again

Its a duramax, he knows it'll die within a couple minutes anyway so he just lets it idle until it dies.

I saw somewhere on here that we can do it with as well. Something like hit the remote start buttons and turn the key off and out or something... Might have to get out and loosen the left front valve cap and shake the tailgate handle too. lol I think I saw what someone did on the electronics section.
