DEF and water
Listen to this, I know a lot of hay truck drivers since im the hay sales manager of a large farm and ranch. Anyways, i was talking about the emissions equipment on all the new trucks with a driver that has a 2011 peterbuilt, and he said hes been filling the DEF tank with water for about a year now, and hasnt had any problems! I got to thinking, why wouldnt that work for the pick-ups as well?? DEF (urea) is basically mostly a water mixture anyways.
I just thought this was interesting and though id share. Even though my 6.7L doesnt run on DEF anymore anyways Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL |

Def cleans up the NOx and our trucks have a NOx sensor, so if the NOx isn't at a certain level it will give you a contaminated def fluid message.

It would have been pretty cool if water did work though. Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL |
