Cool H&S Pyro 1 reading & temps

I have a 2011 F250 with the mini maxx and factory everything (exhaust included). What is the Pyro 1 temp?? What is Pyro 1 actually reading?? I never installed the pyro from H&S and maybe due to my own stupidity or lack of knowledge from others but I can’t get my questions answered. Thanks for the help.

If you didn't hook up a pyro (exhaust gas temperature) then pyro 1 is reading nothing.

You best and easiest route to go would be blocker plates for your EGR. One you do that you can start reading your temps through the tuner. Not many people use the pyro on the fords.

Well I hooked up the H&S tuner per the instructions without the pyro and I get a temp reading when it’s turned on. I'm assuming its reading from wherever Ford has a pyro from the factory????

An accurate reading of your egt's is critical if you are towing, or heavy into the throttle. Stock, I have to push it to break 1000 degrees, on hot.. I can hit 1200 degrees real quick. I visited a diesel shop with a shelf full of melted pistons from too high egts...

The reading you see is from a sensor in the DPF. Once you do a DPF delete, you need to relocate one of the sensors to the front of the engine using 2 EGR blocker plates spoke of by one of the earlier posts. It can get confusing If it's not explained just right. Let us know if you have any further questions!

I just did my delete last night and I haven't installed the blocker plates yet and now I am getting a crazy reading for pyro 1... What is it?

Pyro 1 reads the sensor in the exhaust and since you removed the exhaust, the sensors are also gone and you will get really strange readings.
