Deletes in Texas
I want to hear from other Texans that have done the deletes.
1. What did you have deleted? 2. Do you have any issues with getting your truck inspected? |

I can tell you, technically it's illegal because it's tampering with the original emmissions equipment, but that's a federal law.
Texas state law requires a safety test for diesels which requires a muffler on the exhaust. |
|

|
So as long as there is a muffler it would pass?
|

Legally it needs all the DPF, DOC, all that junk.
Most ppl won't know what to look for or care. |

According to the Texas DOT the turbo charger is considered a muffler. So that being said it is legal to have straight pipe from the turbo back.
I spoke with a large company that does Texas state inspections yesterday and we discussed the emissions equipment and the lack of it on a tuned truck. The gentleman in charge of inspections told me he doesnt care. He said he isnt required to look for the emissions equipment, only safety related areas. He did mention that some inspectors can look and will deny inspection. Just depends on who you get, I would talk to the inspector first and feel him out on the subject. Now all of this is on just diesel vehicles, gassers are way different..... |

Gassers are NO different in safety only tests. Same inspection.
I am required to look at the exhaust system. |

Well I was just going off what this inspector I talked with said....And by gassers being different I meant they are emissions tested unlike the diesels... I guess it just sounds like we need to find the right inspector that can overlook the lack of emissions equipment.

Emissions tests are only in certain areas.
Other than that, same safety as diesels. And yes, just find someone who won't care. If they won't pass you, you're out $14.50. |

A turbo is a muffler in my book. Everthing I own with a turbo doesn't have an actual muffler.

What everyone has said is right. Technically (and why I won't touch it) it is illegal to remove emissions equipment from a vehicle . $25K fine to sell a vehicle without OEM smog and emissions. But most Texas inspectors will not know, look, or care because it is a diesel.
