AFE stage 2 si and check engine light
Anyone run into this?
I have only 2000 miles using the intake and the check engine light keeps coming on. Took it to Ford and they said it is due to the intake, everything else is fine. Any suggestions? |

You would need to scan the PCM and see what code its throwing. If your not running a tuner you it could be just a misreading from the MAF sensor because your pulling in more air. A tuner would solve that problem. Give us some codes and we can help.

I'm staying tuned. I hope AFE would have stated potential issues like this. I've got a stage 2 sitting in the box still.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Ford cleared the code but did not tell me what the code was, just that it related to the MAF and the intake pulling more air. They also proceeded to lecture me about not doing any modifications to the truck as the will find any way to void the warranty. I guess the 6.4L costed them a lot! SO....i have not put a tuner on this truck. I called AFE and they are going to ship me a new intake tube to try out. They thought this might be an answer but not really sure. They also feel that the MAF is sending the code as it is reading too much airflow. I guess i will see once i put the new tube on. |

The code should be listed on your receipt from the service.

Went back to Ford to clear the code.....again.
Code is P2073 MAP/MAF-TP: Correlation at idle. Mechanic said it is the AFE so i am hoping that the new intake tube that AFE is sending me solves the problem. |

I;m not very familiar with the 6.4 but on the 6.0 I know that the stock air intake and filter are the best setup until you go past 500HP. Nothing can filter the air as good while still delivering the airflow of the stock Donaldson filter. Maybe the 6.4 is different but just a thought. I'd love to put an intake on my 6.0 but I won't cause I know it'll eventually hurt my turbo.

I had a CEL last winter on for 4 months or so. 3-4 trips to the dealer and it needed a new sensor and Nox box due to intake (stock). That's what scares ne about changing to a different intake.

Just throwing it out there, is this a wet or dry AFE? if its a wet, is it possible oil got on the MAF so just needs to be removed and cleaned?
