Lift question?
I am looking into purchasing a 2011 ford 250/350 4 door short bed. i want to put 40" tires on it. What size lift do you recomend and is the gearing in the rear end going to be ok with that size tire. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

10" would be the minimum height, depending on the tire/wheel combo maybe a 12". I would run anything up to a 37" tire on stock gearing unless you are towing heavy or drag racing. With a 40" tire, I would regear to 4.56's. Some will recommend 4.88's but I prefer to gear tall. Alot depends on how you drive and what you tow. If you need any help with a lift, we would be happy to put something together for you.

On a '11 a 8" Pure Performance 4 link will easyly clear 40x13.5" and ride fantastic. 2 kits are available a coil spring kit and also a Coil over kit.
As trevor stated, 4.56 gears is what I would also use. Cary |

I have 40x15.5x22's and the 10" fabtech kit I put barely clears. Here's a pic so you see how it looks..

Cary, be careful with that kit saying it clears 40's. I saw that truck online and fell in love with it. I called pure performance direct and spoke with the guy, he told me that it was an 8 inch kit but they also stacked a spacer/leveling kit to make it an 11" kit. An 8 inch kit on its own will not clear 40's. At least thats what I found out with the homework that I did..

their site says the 8" will clear 40X13.50s I dont ever see anyone running a 40 that narrow though to be honest, would look like a tractor tire. Usually going to be 15.50 wide
