Tuner/Smoke Question

I bought the XRT Pro from H&S with DPF delete. The thing is great and power totally shocking. I have been running mild tune and was looking on here and people say run hot for better mileage. So i changed it today finally to hot. The question I have though is it totally normal for the truck to spit black smoke out everywhere on HOT? The mild is not that bad and just makes a good puff when you really hammer it. No emmisions test in my state, but dam the smoke looks worse then 18 wheeler.
