Well after talking to No Limit they reassured me the 2015 turbo can handle occasional boost pressure of 30-32lbs. So that being said I'm running the street tune. NL advised the hot street is the optimal tune to run when not towing. What's everyone's opinions?
Honestly I have tried all of them and then a few more from GH developers and I still have the delayed power delivery. I have heard the same thing as far as the recommendation to run "hot street".
I'm gonna have to monitor that a little more closely. I haven't noticed anything like that. I'm also running the stock intake and unplugged egr. Haven't had time to do that yet when you work 460 hours in a month.
I run the Hot Street as my DD. IF you are putting the NL Stage 2 intake on you will probably need updated tunes to help alleviate the Lag/Bog. Also the GH tunes seem to have some weird Trans tuning behavior. If you haven't already bought the GH tunes I would look elsewhere first.
Put hot street on last night and set the tire settings for my stock 33.2 and 3.55 gears.
Drove to work this morning and the hot street seemed to run smoother than street. From the shifting to just watching the turbo. On the way to work I just cruise up pacific coast highway. Just a smooth drive. On the street tune I would notice the turbo peak up to 17-20lbs just easing off from a red light. Today on hot street I didn't get past 11lbs boost just cruising. Reminded me of the truck when it was all stock, but when I needed the power to pass a car it was there. Shifting seems smoother than the street tune also.
what tunes would you recommend in place of Gearhead, im in the process of a turbo swap and was going to go with them, but keep getting mixed reviews...
I have an SCT device already so eventually I will probably reach out to Midwest Diesel and see what they can do for me if I cant get the Gearhead tunes fixed.
If I didn't already have a SCT device I would go straight to Spartan, with the new nGauge their tunes seem to be the best right now.
I have to say that I just got my delete done on my truck with all parts and tuner from NL. I am having issues with the GH tunes on my truck, and Mike has/is being very helpful and responsive to resolve them along with the guys at GH. Call over there (no limit) talk with Luke? He seems to be the one that answers the phone there most the time I've called. he helped me out as well sending info to the tuners.
What issues is everyone having? Can you describe the symptoms?
I installed the NL stage 2 intake, block off plates, and have the exhaust. I'm running Gearhead and the trans tuning just seems kind of rough to me. Sometimes it slams gears and other times it's smooth.
Subscribed. I Installed my pipe and tried to tune last night. Kept getting "General Error" 110-AD"
After a couple after hours E mails with Mike from NL, We had things sorted this morning.
I have to say, I agree with the exceptionally firm shifts from the X4 with GH tunes. Currently I'm running "street". From what I understand, there may be some relief to this running "Hot Street"? In street, I'm also getting the lag that goes then lets off to the point where it throws me forward in the seat from a stop. Feels very different from my dad's MM but still a huge improvement over stock.
Completely stock besides pipe and tuner.
To the guys that don't run the EGR delete kit, are you unplugging it or doing nothing?
I was running hot street and noticed the shifts were better than street, but still every now and then it would slam gears.
After doing some reading I put it back to tow tune as I deleted for longevity so I'm trying to stay as close to stock power levels as I can. I haven't driven it yet but I'll update with the tow tune.
As for my egr its unplugged and blocked off with NL block off plates.
I am running the hot street too and that's the exact same problem I am having overly Firm 1-2 & 2-3 shifts, as well as random slams into the next gear under harder(50%+) throttle.
I am getting so frustrated with the support from No Limit, I have had these issues from Day 1 and its nearly 3 months later! You will get responses for a bit and then its like tumbleweeds on the street...they are MIA. Great responses when I was in the process of handing over money or with "known" issues, but if it's a "strange" issue its like they ignore you and hope that you give up and go away.
I am to the point that I am going to say forget NL and reach out to GH directly even though Jeremy said that I can't do that.
Hey Yankee how long have you been driving with this tune? It takes awhile for the trannies to learn, are you using the sct x4? Do they have a relearn for the tranny like a mini maxx does?
Subbing for GH news and updates. I was all but set on buying them, but now I don't know after reading this.
Side note: NL's instagram post last night was about the Spartan nGauge and he/they specifically state that it's worth the extra $500+ over the X4/GH tuner. https://www.instagram.com/p/BBqBWiuH76c/
I run the Tow file , it's the one and only file I bought from No Limit , it is supposedly a Gear Head tune.
Truck runs good mostly like stock , it does have a delay off idle and a surge as it shifts into second gear as the turbo winds up.
I avg 17.8 on the message center mixed easy driving , on paper it is 16.7 mpg
I would like to buy additional tunes from G.H. directly or I would even have them revise my tune
CAI, block off plates, and delete pipe installed today! Running GH Hot Street on SCT X4 with the stock muffler/tail pipe. Very well behaved when not sticking my boot through the firewall. Sounds great if you like the turbo whine. No droning in cab. No smoke. When you get on it, you definitely notice the difference over the SCT preload. I'm a happy camper for now.
Today is my first full day driving around with the tow tune. Haven't noticed any weird shifting or slamming into gears which is good.
As for power I understand it's the "tow" tune and it's no where near hot street but for some reason it feels more sluggish even compared to when the truck was stock. Anyone notice that?
Yeah k emailed Jeremy and he got back to me pretty quick. He's gonna send me the revised tune for the stage 2 intake. We'll see if that makes a difference.
I run the GH Street most of the time. I ended up making my own Trans file. The slam shifts in the 2-3 and 3-4 and a clunky 6-5 down drove me crazy. I've almost got it where I want it. I think it not as much a GH problem as the base file we send to him for revisions. I started my own tune with a newer version from a 2012 calibration. It's a lot smoother and I didn't touch the pressures. I only adjusted the shift points and lockup/unlock points.
What software are you using to do your modifications?
