SPE and Carillo rods.....

Snyder Performance Engineering Inc. - Automobiles and Parts - Carmichaels, PA | Facebook

Whats wrong with this? I personally don't care what the engine will make with rods. I'm not going to do it. I think SPE would be better off to listen to us. A good single with bigger injectors and some actual tuning. Hell I even like the idea of the add a turbo if the stock turbo can hold up, but its not going to be as easy as bolting a turbo on and using a canned tune that was wrote for a stock truck. SPE if you are listening or anyone else for that matter, we want a stock replacement turbo, and we want to see what the stock engine will hold with proper tuning. There is a market for this now, not rods and going crazy. Guess I'm just getting sick of waiting for the aftermarket to catch on.

It says this is not the only thing they are working on. I'm not sure if it was Facebook or a forum post but they said they are working on replacement turbo setups as well. I think it's good that they have came out with these. For me it looks like "canned" tunes or not our trucks aren't gonna handle much more power then what we already have without doing things like these rods.

We need rods and a better cp3 before we need injectors. I'll agree we need a better turbo as well. A good reliable single. We also need to find a way to dial down the bottom end. 1000ftlbs below 2000rpm is ridiculous and way to hard on parts. Not to mention horrible for traction.

I know it's an old post but I got to thinking. Does anyone know what SPE was running for gears when the rods gave on their race truck? Or maybe SPE might even jump in and tell us.

The fact is no matter which way you slice it the 6.7 has the rods of a 4cyl honda, once your crest 500 rwhp your on thin ice. Tuning isn't going to change that, I know its a tough pill to swallow but if you want to go beyond 500 rwhp reliably your going to have to pony up and do rods to lay the foundation for more power.

Well that is definitely some upsetting news but like you said there isn't any other route than going rods. But the next problem is the cp4 isn't it?

The days of plug and play powerhouses went away with the last 2010 Superduty.
If you want to entertain those types of numbers again, it will take rods, pins, compounds and more..

Until Ford steps up stock rod strength, (which will probably never happen), I would instead concentrate on Spartan, H&S, KEM and Innovative to simply refine, refine and refine a 100 hp tune that drives smooth, is easy on the bottom end of the engine, and delivers fuel economy. I would setttle for that, because those are the best options for 99% of new SD buyers.

2008 F-350
KEM 345 tuned.

Im over it now. Just give me a nice aftermarket single that will last more than 10k miles and ill be happy. Once I get bored with the truck ill entertain the idea of rods, compounds, injectors, etc as long as it will make at least 700rwhp reliably. This is my daily driver. Not a race truck. If I want to go fast Ill hop on the ole turbo hayabusa. Over the winter Im hoping to make at least 600rwhp. And yes this is with a little 4 cylinder 1.3L engine. It makes 400rwhp on the set up it has now and I only beat the hell out of it. The turbo has lasted longer any turbo I've had on the 6.7. Pretty weak huh.
