Can non-vgt turbos provide a turbo brake or exhaust? I have the mpd 63 sxe kit. Just curious if there is a way I can slow down with more than regular brakes. 2011 f250 full weight reduction
Non-vgt turbo cannot "turbo brake" because turbo braking takes advantage of the veins in the turbo, closing them all the way to create backpressure for the engine to work against.
You'll need to install an engine brake in order to regain functionality with a non-vgt turbo.
In the meantime, when needing to slow down, shift to "M" and bump gears down manually. The more wound up the motor is, the better it will be.
That's what I thought. Damn. Thanks! Love the power of the mpd kit. Nervous of getting the big toy hauler I want. Went with the 63sxe. But still lots of lag when cruising lower rpms
Ezlynk with ppei. Base tune avoids lag but holds 2k rpm basic driving. Advised different trans tune. Better daily but much less responsive. Feel the trans is already gloing to go crazy wanted to help what I can.
