I am coming over from The Diesel Stop (TDS). I've been a long time follower and now I wanted to get some opinions as to going the delete route.
I am planning on doing a full EGR delete vice just the block off plates. Does anyone have access to a write-up, PDF instructions, or video that provides enough of a detailed description.. The process does not look too hard, but I'd rather review something vice diving in blindly.
The for DPF, its going bye bye! I'll replace with a Flo-Pro exhaust.
For the Tuner I am thinking about an SCT X4 with Tyrant Diesel tunes. Below is a list of the parts I am considering buying tonight.. Any suggestions, comments, concerns, etc...
So before I pull the trigger here I wanted to see what you guys thought on the following for the package I am putting together...
Flo-Pro SS 5" Exhaust - FLOSS653NB @ $461.00 (Is that the right one? I see FLOSS652NB(Muff) and FLOSS653NB(No Muff))
MBRP T409 SS 5" Quite Tone Muffler - MBRP M2220S @ $224.99
Flo Pro Rolled Angle SS 5/6" Tip - FLO9012RAB @ $44.75
SCT X4 Tuner w/ Tyrant Tunes @ $399.00 + $75 TD Tune of Choice or $275 for full 6.7 Tune Pack
Sinister Diesel EGR Delete @ $189.00
I'd like to try and order this tonight or tomorrow...
Can you elaborate further past a personal preference or experience? Are there differences in manufacturing, materials, fit/finish, or functionality? I am curious and will absolutely look into it just looking for further information as to make an informed decision.
But do not see where its applicable to a 2012 model year? Unless you just have to specify that you have 2015 or 2016 model year.... I'll get up with Jeremy. Thanks
joshb101 is right, start with just the delete pipe, and start adjusting sound to your liking from there. A lot of guys use the Donaldson straight through mufflers, they work great at killing drone and hiss while keeping the panty dropping turbo whistle haha! AND they're very reasonably priced.
Also, I'm also 100% with everyone else; go with No Limit for everything.

Thanks for the heads up! I like the way that sounds. Read the thread you linked and sounds like there were a few other members who enjoyed the results of that Donaldson straight through muffler. I'll check them out.
I'll be getting back in touch with No Limit today to finalize some things. Thanks for the help!:thumb:
So can someone confirm install order for me for a sanity check...
1. Remove DPF and sensors
2. Install new Flo-Pro 5" SS exhaust
3. Tune truck via SCT X4
4. For EGR I thought I'd found a walk through but can't seem to locate on phone app...
No Limit EGR Delete kit for reference on this install...
Again just looking for pointers, I'll review all directions with products just looking for pointers from the guys who have done this install...
You have it backwards. Tune the truck first to make sure the tune is good. Start the truck and make sure it runs fine. You can then start removing the sensors from the dpf. I actually restarted the truck again with just the dpf sensors disconnected to make sure the tune was legitimately an "off road" tune before I put in the work to rip that clunker out of their. Once you're confident your tune is good, begin your weight loss. Have fun!!
So how do you install tune and fire up truck to verify tune on your vehicle? Clearly I'm not asking about the above in order to drive around, hence the thread..
I agree with the logic of tuning and verifying before removing everything.. But if there are or could be adverse affects.... please elaborate.
I'm not saying drive around town on a delete tune...Just firing it up to make sure she runs, no risk there. Better to know your truck accepted the tune before you put in all that labor just to find out you have tune issues.
if you've got the custom tune you should be fine, plug the SCT in and follow the flash instructions, you'll be cycling the key on and off and making selections
I'm sure you've researched but I can't over emphasize the importance of using a penetrating oil on the exhaust manifold bolts for the egr. It will ruin your day if the snap off. Spray them a couple times a day for a few days in advance of trying to pull them.
What you wanna do with those 2 bolts is run the truck to temp. Then take your extension and 8mm socket and crack those bastards while the truck is hot. Back them 2 turns. Hose your lube down in there and let it creep down the threads overnight. Next day go to town.
Cracking them on a cold engine is much more likely snap them. Then you'll be replacing the manifold.
Trust me on that. Have replaced a metric a$$ tonne of coolers under warranty. Have never broken transfer pipe bolts using this exact method.
Oh and tune truck first. Always! Nothing sucks harder than pulling everything out, attempting to load tune and it not taking. Then you're pretty much pooched until it gets sorted.
Right after you load it, disconnect the front egt sensor and run it. Make sure it doesn't throw a code

i seen this asked before but without a true answer. If you load a deleted tune on a truck thats not yet deleted isnt gonna throw a bunch of codes? I understand principle behind this just not sure how it works. Can someone elaborate please. thanks.
I'm about two months behind you on my delete process. I'm still researching products and figuring out exactly how to delete my truck. I've been scouring the interwebs looking for a good tutorial on the delete process from beginning to end (tuning, dpf delete, egr block).
Do you plan on documenting the entire process, either through pictures or video? If so, I would really like to see how it is done.
Yeah I can get some pictures and/or videos of certain parts/steps of the process as I go if I can remember... I'm excited to get working on it tomorrow!
I'd do the tune and dpf delete first. You can run with the egr unplugged for a bit if needed, and then tackle the egr delete another day if you run out of time.
How to vid for exhaust, not me btw
Quick question for anyone running off road tunes...
I am loading tunes on truck right now. Afterwards I will remove the exhaust from the vehicle and install the new one.
As it pertains to the EGR with tunes.. Once the tunes are uploaded and the exhaust system is swapped out. I should then unplug the EGR via the 2 orange connectors until I get to installing the EGR block off and flow through plates?
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
