turbo replacement

I have to replace the turbo tomorrow on a 2011 f-550. How big of a job is it? What all do I have to take off? Thanks

Never done it, but apparently its not that bad as we have dropped them off in the morning and got them back same day from the dealership.

Subscribed for info, got my wicked wheel on its way over in the mail and would like any tips to make the job a bit easier. I was told in another thread to pull the right inner fender for access to the back of the turbo, guessing it helps with the downpipe clamp on the turbo.

Well, I got the turbo changed. Big thing is just make sure you get the antifreeze all drained. Take the inner fender out and take a bolt out of the downpipe that is into the tranny hsg. The only special tool you need is the tool to get the quick connect fittings off. I had it off in about and hour and a half.

What style fitting are they? Like the horseshoe tool that presses in both sides of the fitting?

The truck is stock and i used a stock turbo. It is the horseshoe looking tool but it takes a shallow one and thin. I think the name on it is jiffylock. I can look tomorrow and let you know for sure.

sucks that they do not have an aftermarket one for the C&C trucks. I usually break two a year, it gets old.

If you're careful you don't need a jiffy lock tool, just remove the small spring clip with a pick tool or pocket screwdriver.

The turbo install isn't too bad, definitely doable in under a day.
