Couple questions/issues

I own a 2011 F250, 4 door, FWD, short bed with 40,000 miles. Love the truck so far but I do have some concerns.
My first concern is I notice that about every other day the mileage drops in half with no performance change or the surging that others speak of. The message center is not telling me anything when the mileage drops (re-gen etc). The DEF tank is full as well. Also, this is happening I'm not pulling anything and driving a steady 45 or 55mph.
Secondly, I bought the truck used and have owned it for the past 20,000 miles. About half of that mileage is pulling a 10,000 pound trailer. In this time the truck has never gone through an exhaust system cleaning cycle. Seems like that should have happened by now? Is it possible that these two "issues" are connected?
Thanks for any help!

Your truck has probably gone through regen 50+ times since you've owned it. The message screen only says it for a split second, it doesn't stay up on the screen the entire time. likely explains your issue. Do you let the truck idle alot

The longest the truck ever idles is 10 minutes (after pulling for a long distance). Other than that it does not idle any more than normal driving (stop lights, at gas station etc).
